The PSI particle physics program rests on two legs, the CERN engagement within the CMS collaboration at LHC and the PSI in-house physics program.
PSI operates the most powerful proton accelerator and delivers the most intense low energy muon and pion beams, as well as polarized cold neutrons from the continous spallation neutron source SINQ. Moreover, a new very strong source of ultracold neutrons is under construction.
The present head of the Laboratory for Particle Physics at PSI, Kurt Gabathuler, is going to retire in the near future.
The workshop is intended to contribute to an evaluation of the future particle physics research at PSI, with the exception of the high energy physics program.
